Brick walls of Gothic-style buildings in Kaliningrad, rich collections of European Art in the Pushkin Museum or the State Hermitage, old northern cities located on the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks. All these have nothing to do with the habitual stereotypes of Russia. These are real miracles that astonish.

When I think about my travels to Russia, I remember a wonderful time spent in Ufa, Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as hiking in the Altai Mountains. I can hardly imagine more diverse impressions and experiences. People, especially in Ufa and Moscow, whom I met personally, were very sincere, open and hospitable. They're educated, they have their own values, and it's pleasant to spend time with them. The nature is incredibly beautiful, real and fascinating. Cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg are worth visiting. You need to see the churches, gardens and, of course, the Kremlin - they are impressive and majestic. I love local markets with their fruits, vegetables, various kinds of salads and other products. There's nothing like this in Germany and Europe. Russia is a wonderful, multi-faceted country that's well-pronounced from a cultural point of view. I'll be glad to come back here soon.
Travel to Russia will forever remain one of the best trips in my life. During the trip I visited Moscow, St. Petersburg and a small town called Voskresensk. I must admit, I thought that visiting Russia would be just another check mark in the list of countries I visited when I was planning the trip. I didn't believe I would fall in love with Russia at first sight and would dream of living here long-term. I was a little scared before the trip, because I heard that the Russians aren't friendly. But it turned out to be an absolute lie. People in Russia are very friendly and ready to help even in spite of the language barrier. During the trip to Russia, I received an amazing gastronomic experience, studying the dishes of Russian cuisine. Finally, I must say that I was struck by the beauty and size of the giant buildings with a magnificent and unique architecture.
Russia is full of natural and cultural wealth. During my numerous trips, I saw the diversity of this country. I was even lucky to cross the entire territory of Russia from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok on the Trans-Siberian Railway. This unique journey remains one of the most beautiful in my life. Despite the fact that the tourist infrastructure requires improvements, some buildings need repairs, and the environment - more security, traveling across Russia brings real pleasure. My favorite destinations? Suzdal, the 'Pearl of the Golden Ring', the monastic Sergiev Posad, the multicultural cities of Kazan and Ulan-Ude, the amazing Lake Baikal, the North Caucasus and, of course, Moscow and St. Petersburg! Russia offers tourists incomparable treasures both in summer and winter. Fans of history or art, lovers of nature or sports: it has something for everyone! My next trip to Russia is already planned: Karelia and its breathtaking landscapes! Don't be shy, come visit this wonderful country!
Traveling to Russia isn't easy, but very exciting. Russia is very diverse, it unites untouched nature and never sleeping megacities. A tourist is among the many attractions that will satisfy even the most exquisite wishes. St. Petersburg is a European city, imbued with magical atmosphere of the northern capital. When in Moscow, a tourist will be in the heart of Russia, a country that's one of the leading in the world from the traditions and culture standpoint. Nature begins to prevail over civilization as you get away from the European part of the country. Small villages filled with wooden houses, forests that stretch to the horizon... Ancient cities grow around the medieval fortresses that dominate the surrounding territory. The more you move east, the greater adventure your journey becomes. Once in the Far East, you immerse yourself in the mysterious atmosphere of a pristine untouched nature, simple, but certainly exciting.
I came to Moscow in the summer of 2017 to visit my friend in her home town. Our tour of the city started at the VDNKh exhibition, a huge network of manicured gardens, and intricate fountains. The place, very tastefully designed, felt joyful and peaceful well into the night. In the days that followed I visited the Pushkin Museum, the Red Square, the Kazan cathedral. The collection of late 19th century and early 20th century art at the Pushkin Museum was among the most spectacular collections I've seen, and the Kazan cathedral, reconstructed in the 90's after being leveled by Stalin, had exotic eastern architectural beauty outside, and was densely packed with moving icons within. I learned that Russians are obsessed with Kvass (a drink made by fermenting bread) and even make a Kvass-based cold soup, which was highly refreshing on a hot summer day. As it turned out, my visit was too short, so I promised myself to come back.
As with any country, there are many myths about Russia. Bears are walking the streets and people have smoking nuclear reactors as centerpieces in their apartments. The thing about nuclear reactors is of course an exaggeration. But we can't say the same about bears. Which stories about Russians are true, and which are false? Let's try to sort it out.
